The goal of the 3-part intensive seminar is to promote participants' ability to conceptualize sexual issues within the Schema Therapy (ST) Model and to explore experiential strategies for healing early sexually traumatogenic experiences. The seminar will detail a model premised on the concept of nascent sexual needs. After presenting the model, we will explore three major ways through which sexual difficulties may arise: following an inadequate response of the nurturing environment to broad emotional needs, following an inadequate response that is specific to the nascent sexual self needs and following a sexual trauma.

The seminar will demonstrate the use of case conceptualization, followed by adapted forms of the experiential, cognitive, behavioral, and relational strategies that make up the schema therapy approach. Among the issues which will be addressed will be: Problems in desire, arousal, orgasm, body-image, papraphilias, sexual addictions and more. The seminar will explore these issues which are of relevance to heterosexual, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer clients.

THIS WEBINAR WILL COVER:

  • The Schema-based clinical model for working with sexuality issues
  • The Modes-based clinical model for working with sexuality issues
  • Applying the models when working with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer clients
